Costa Dorada
250 km (!) of golden beaches are offered to us by the Costa Dorada, literally the Golden Coast, located in the south of Catalonia with its beautiful capital in ancient Tarragona, 100 km from Barcelona.
Wide and long, easily accessible beaches with numerous recreational activities and great infrastructure are ideal for a successful family vacation with children, while charming coves hidden among pine forests and rocky cliffs, away from the hustle and bustle, encourage lovers of peace, tranquility and diverse landscapes to relax.
The ancient Roman capital of the Iberian Peninsula, Tarragona, is also the capital of the province where the largest number, as many as five wine appellations, from the Spanish Denominación de Origen, are located, and among them, the most prestigious one: Priorat. The tradition of viticulture goes all the way back to the ancient Romans, who built in the former Tarraco the largest port of the time, from which sailing ships supplied the Roman Empire with wine and oil from Iberia. Today, the city’s impressive ruins of an amphitheater, circus and Roman fora, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, remain from its historic Roman heyday.
Slightly off the coast, inland located Reus is not only the birthplace of the famous architect and creator of the Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudi, among others, but also one of the most culturally active cities in Catalonia and the capital of vermouth, and from its airport Ryanair airlines operate direct flights to Gdansk.
